Meet Jodi
Jodi Holmes is an American artist currently based in the Cayman Islands. She holds an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Colorado, Boulder, awarded in 2019. Drawing inspiration from her experiences living in diverse locales such as the Cayman Islands, the United States, and Europe (including the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, and Italy), Holmes intricately weaves the threads of memory, belonging, and place into her art.
Central to Holmes's artistic practice are landscape themes, through which she explores the profound impact of personal experiences on one's perception of surroundings. Her current body of work of landscape collage captures the essence of these experiences, often drawing from poignant memories of her rural Missouri upbringing, echoing the warmth and intricacy of her mother's quilts.
Holmes's artworks have been showcased in various exhibitions across the United States and internationally in Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Notably, she introduced her Quilted Landscapes series at the pop-up exhibition Side-by-Side at the Hub gallery during Cayman Art Week 2023.
In addition to her work, Holmes brings extensive teaching experience to her practice. She has taught Painting, Drawing, and Art History at universities across the United States, including the University of Michigan and Greenville Technical College.
