Meet Joanna

Joanne Sibley was born in Canada. Her interest in art was encouraged from an early age by her Father, well Known portrait painter Newton Brett.

After receiving a degree in Interior design from the University of Manitoba, she moved to Jamaica in 1954 where she practiced interior design in her husband's architectural firm. She painted architectural form, landscapes and portraits while residing in Jamaica.

She came to the Cayman Islands in 1980 where she joined the Visual Art Society, which allowed her not only to exhibit her works, but also allowed her to teach.

As a practicing artist in Cayman Islands for almost 40 decades, Joanne paints using oil, watercolor and gouache. She has received numerous awards and has been honored in an array of artists magazines. Her prolific career in painting has taken her on journeys all over Europe and North America. Her works are in both private and corporate collections all over the world.

Joanne continues to paint as she spends her time between Cayman and Canada. Her work is part of the Cayman Islands National Collection.
